MCR is a studio-based design practice recognised internationally for quality Architecture, Urban and Interior Design.
As you can see from our portfolio of completed projects, our designs are engaging and express the unique identity of the client and their community. This is balanced by our robust, sensible and pragmatic approach to project management and documentation. We deliver projects on budget but our designs never appear to be constrained by their budget.
An important aspect of our work is our skill in responding, in a unique way, to both the urban environment and the individual culture, needs and traditions of our clients. We are interested in how ideas can be translated into form and in how architecture, landscapes and the environment can be enriched by this interest.
Our practice benefits from over 35 years of knowledge and experience, having been established by co-founders Debbie Ryan and Robert McBride in 1988. Debbie and Rob continue to play an active role in the practice, guiding design direction, key decision making and a personal, empathetic approach to design.
We have successfully designed and delivered projects in excess of $1 billion, such as the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). This and two other completed projects have been recognised with the highest accolade for Architecture in Victoria, The Victorian Architecture Medal – in 2005 for Templestowe Park Primary School, 2014 for Dallas Brooks Community Primary School and 2017 for VCCC. This recognition extends internationally, with the Klein Bottle House receiving the award for Best House in the World in 2009 at the World Architecture Festival.
